Dinner at Khanage restaurant
Thursday 24th January 2019
Event start: 18:00
Khanage Indian Restaurant
The AFC Wimbledon Business Club has held a wide variety of different events since its inception back in October 2017, but it was back to an old favourite to kick-off 2019!
Around 30 members made the most of a tasty menu at Khanage Indian Restaurant in Wimbledon with Anwar Sheikh, Managing Director at Khanage, as an excellent host on the evening. AFC Wimbledon’s Commercial Director Ivor Heller thanked people for attending and paid tribute to members for making the Business Club a success since its launch.
Events staged by the Business Club have included a tour of Wimbledon Brewery, a day at Sandown races, a games night, and even a martial arts exhibition! Next up, is a quiz night on Thursday 28 February at The Garratt & Gauge pub in Wimbledon.
The Business Club is a good way of utilising the passion that people have for Wimbledon and bringing them together to extend contacts in the business community.
Oliver Cooper, Knight Frank Estate Agents
Anwar Sheikh, Managing Director at Khanage, said: “It’s always an honour to host the AFC Wimbledon Business Club. There is a lot of networking for people to do at these events, while enjoying a social occasion at the same time. I’m looking forward to hosting the club again next year!
“The fact that the Business Club has grown in numbers is credit to those involved, it shows how it’s progressing. I’m looking forward to the Business Club growing and remaining a part of it. With the new stadium at Plough Lane being built, the future is bright for AFC Wimbledon.”
Oliver Cooper, who works at Knight Frank Estate Agents, first attended a Wimbledon match back in the 1990/91 season, and he said that the lure of moving to a new stadium at Plough Lane can attract more business opportunities for the club.
“It’s always important for clubs like us to be involved in the local community and moving to a new ground can boost AFC Wimbledon’s business profile. The stadium will be a huge community asset. The Business Club is a good way of utilising the passion that people have for Wimbledon and bringing them together to extend contacts in the business community.”
Adam Playle, Senior Business Development Executive at Morrisons Solicitors, said: “It’s been a great night. I’ve got to meet a lot of contacts that I’d not met before in a relaxed atmosphere. Events like this are good for building a community with similar interests to develop business contacts. People are not going to come to the Business Club unless there is something that brings them there, that attracts them along, and this type of event does that.”
Bring on next Thursday’s quiz night when Tempus Delay Analysis will be aiming to defend their title as 2018 winners!
Our next event will be held on Thursday, 28th February - a quiz night at the Garratt & Gauge!
