Win-win for the business club!
Saturday 21st July 2018
Event start: 12:00
Cherry Red Records Stadium
It was a day to remember for members of the Business Club as they got to share a great meal, premium hospitality and a win for the Dons!
On a hot Saturday afternoon, AFC Wimbledon played host to Brighton & Hove Albion at Cherry Red Records Stadium in Kingston and the Business Club got to enjoy a premium hospitality experience with a three course meal pre match, seats for the game in the Directors box with a complimentary match day programme and catered refreshments during half time and again after the match.
The day kicked off with a delicious meal of duck breast with mashed potato and roasted vegetables, followed by a choice of fruit salad or tiramisu and the tea or coffee. Given the temperatures on the day, there was plenty of beer and wine being considered instead!
This is my 9th event with the Business Club - in fact I’ve only missed one. They are always great fun, like no other networking group I’ve experienced before.

After the meal, Commercial Director Ivor Heller introduced the attendees to Neal Ardley, Dons manager, who gave a pre match brief and announced the team. Members then took to their seats in the Directors Box with an unenviable view and were treated to the wing play of recent signing Mitch Pinnock and the superb finishing of strikers Joe Piggott and Kwesi Appiah. Solid defensive work at the back kept the Premier League side off the scoreboard and members were very happy to head into the President’s Lounge for refreshments with a two goal lead.
During the break Business Club member Carlo Rossi from Code72 shared his thoughts with us.
“I’m absolutely beaming right now! I’m a season ticket holder and this team has got me very excited about the upcoming season! This is my 9th event with the Business Club - in fact I’ve only missed one. They are always great fun, like no other networking group I’ve experienced before. They always keep it fresh and interesting and the atmosphere is very conducive to making friends and potential business deals.
As an owner of a small business focusing on web and print design for any sized budget, I get to hear about the various challenges members face and so far I have been able to help a few of them turn around their digital presence - touch wood it continues!”
A goal for Brighton in the second half did nothing to dampen the high spirits and members enjoyed some food and cold drinks after, with a chance to catch up with everyone and meet newcomers as well as celebrate a win against a Premiership team. It was a very successful day on all fronts and members are already looking forward to the next event - a table tennis tournament at Smash!
